Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka meets High Commissioner of Maldives
Colombo, January 6th 2026, Cuban Ambassador - designate to #Sri Lanka, Patricia Lázara Pego Guerra, paid a Courtesy Call to the High Commissioner of Maldives, Masood Imad, who was accompanied by Deputy High Commissioner Fathimath Ghina.
During the meeting parties confirmed the good level of relations between #Maldives and #Cuba, as well as the willingness of both governments to strengthen and enhance them.
The Cuban diplomat is Non - Resident Ambassador - designate to Maldives.

Colombo, 10 December 2025, The ambassador - designate Patricia Lázara Pego Guerra presented Mr. Rohana Ambagolla, chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka, the copies of her credentials, which will accredit her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
During the meeting, the Sri Lanka´s Chief of Protocol welcomed her and conveyed the assurance of his Government's support for the success of her diplomatic mission.
In Sri Lanka, a well-deserved tribute is paid to Fidel

As part of the centennial celebration of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz (August 13, 2026), and in commemoration of the ninth anniversary of his death, the Sri Lankan Graduates Association in Cuba, together with the Cuban Embassy, organized a well-deserved tribute, demonstrating the enduring relevance of Fidel's thought. Also participating was Dr. Mohamed Waheed, the first graduate from the Maldives to study in Cuba.
