The "Jawaharlal Nehru" University, the main and largest center of higher education in India, organized an activity to celebrate Cuban Culture Day, under the title "Cubanía". The meeting was organized by the Center for Latin American, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian Studies of the Faculty of Literature and Languages.
The event was attended by the Cuban Ambassador, Alejandro Simancas Marín, who gave a lecture on this important date and explained the origin of our National Anthem. The Dean of the Faculty Mazhar Asif and the Director of the Center, Indrani Mukherjee, also spoke.
Three renowned professors of the University gave lectures on Cuban literature, the cultural policy of the Revolution and bilateral regarding relations with India. The event concluded in a special way with the participation of the students, who declaimed poems by José Martí and Nicolás Guillen, and sang "Guantanamera" and "Hasta Siempre Comandante".
