Cuban Ambassador is received by the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis

Basseterre, January 16, 2026—On Thursday afternoon, the Honorable Dr. Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, received Giuvel Orozco Ortega, Cuba's ambassador to the Caribbean island, at the Government Headquarters.

During the cordial meeting, they discussed the good state of bilateral relations and the bonds of brotherhood that unite both natios, as well as the willingness to continue expanding exchanges and cooperative relations in areas of mutual interest.

There are no negotiations underway with the U.S. government, aside from technical contacts related to migration matters.

Cuba has consistently expressed its willingness to engage in serious and responsible dialogue with successive U.S. administrations, including the current one, provided such dialogue is conducted based on sovereign equality, mutual respect, adherence to international law, mutual benefit, non-interference in internal affairs, and full respect for Cuba’s independence.

STATEMENT FROM THE ASSOCIATION OF CUBAN RESIDENTS IN ST. KITTS AND NEVIS

We, the Association of Cuban Residents in St. Kitts and Nevis, wish to express our deep outrage, pain, and sadness upon learning of the death in combat of our brave and courageous combatants  who fell in that treacherous and vile imperial attack against Venezuela.
