May 1st is celebrated in Lebanon on the occasion of the Regional Meeting of Cuban residents.
In a day of solidarity in salute to May 1st, Cuban residents, Lebanese graduates on the island and diplomats accredited here today ratified their commitment to the revolution and the Antillean people.
At the Regional Meeting of resident Cuban citizens, with a representation of the community of friends of Cuba in the region of Baalbeck, in East Beeka, the head of the Caribbean mission in Beirut, Jorge León Cruz, thanked them for their support and congratulated them on the occasion of the International Workers' Day.
The occasion was propitious to hand over the passport for the first time to the son of the president of the Association of Cuban Residents who recently obtained the certification of acquisition of Cuban citizenship.
During the dialogue, the diplomatic official updated on the economic and political reality of the island and the efforts of the people to overcome the obstacles imposed by the U.S. blockade for more than six decades.
In the midst of these imperialist pressures, León highlighted the achievements of the Cuban working class throughout these years and evoked the concept of "Revolution" expressed by the Commander-in-Chief, Fidel Castro, in the Open Tribune of the Youth, Students and Workers, on May 1, 2000.
For their part, the attendees highlighted Cuba's example to the free nations of the world as a faithful defender of dignity and just causes.
At the same time, they expressed their pride for being Cubans; while the Lebanese expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to be educated in universities and institutes of the island; and to be able to count on the friendship of a courageous and heroic people.
The remembrance of the years of studies, the kindness of the Cuban people, the meetings of friends, the Creole food and the music were topics of conversation during the political-cultural day of solidarity.
To the rhythm of the Van Van and Habana de Primera, Cubans and Lebanese shared feelings of brotherhood, love and peace.
