Addis Ababa, November 22, 2023.- The Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, received the Vice President of Cuba Salvador Valdés Mesa, who arrived here to complete an official visit.
"Cuba has always been with us in difficult moments, that is why we will always be with you for whatever is needed," said Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali in the meeting he held on Wednesday morning (local time) with the member of the Political Bureau and Vice President of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa.
Regarding the origins of these ties, the Cuban Vice President commented during the dialogue: "Our relations were founded at the moment when Ethiopia needed our help to preserve its territorial integrity."
We support Ethiopia, he said, because "we believe it is an important country in Africa that deserves peace and stability."
He also expressed his gratitude for the support that Cuba has given to Ethiopia, "especially in recent years, which have been very difficult for our country."
Referring to what has been done in these 50 years of bilateral relations, he highlighted the prospects for cooperation that exist in areas such as Health, Education, Tourism, services, agriculture, technology transfer, among others.
"Ethiopia will always be by Cuba's side in its struggle for the blockade to be lifted, and we will defend that decision in all the groups of which we are part," he said.
To Fidel, special recognition in his words, it is impossible not to do so when his ideals and actions made so much for these lands: "In Ethiopia we love Fidel, who has a very large place in our hearts."
