Cuba presents business opportunities in tourism

The PHD-CCI Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized an interactive session in New Delhi with Elizabeth Cristina Vela Jaime, Tourism Counsellor for the Asia-Pacific market, who is visiting India. She was accompanied by the Charge d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Cuba, Abel Aballe Despaigne.

On the Indian side were present the Co-Chairman of the PHD Tourism and Hospitality Committee, Rajan Sehgal; the Deputy Secretary General of PHD, Naveen Seth; as well as representatives of advertising agencies, travel agencies, media and journalists specializing in the tourism sector.

Rajan Sehgal, in his remarks, highlighted the work they have done with Cuba in recent years to promote business opportunities. He highlighted the existing potential for the promotion of Cuba in the Indian market and explained the impact of the Indian film industry in this regard. He also extended an invitation to Cuba to participate in the FilmTourism event held every year in Mumbai, the next edition of which is scheduled for March.

The Cuban representatives made a presentation on the development of the tourism industry in Cuba and the business opportunities in terms of promotion and marketing of the destination and investments in the sector. They highlighted in particular the potential that Cuba has identified in the Indian market, reflected in the participation for the first time of a delegation, composed of several travel agencies and hotel chains operating in Cuba, in the OTM 2024 Travel Fair, where Cuba received the award for "Most Promising New Destination". They also pointed out the actions taken to establish alliances with agencies, tour operators and advertising agencies for the promotion and marketing of Cuba as a destination. The new promotional campaign Cuba Única was presented.
