Cuba's health minister honors Cuban soldiers who fell on Ethiopian soil

Addis Ababa, April 9, 2024.  The Minister of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba, Dr. José Angel Portal Miranda, arrived to Ethiopia, on a transit stopover, after concluding a government visit to Rwanda, where he represented our country in the solemn ceremony for the 30th anniversary of the genocide against the Tutsi ethnic group.

During the brief stay, Dr. Portal Miranda visited the facilities of the Cuban diplomatic headquarters and, accompanied by the state mission, laid wreaths in front of the murals of the Ethiopia-Cuba Friendship Park, where the photographs and names of the 163 Cuban soldiers who fell on Ethiopian soil are located.  Also participating in this tribute was the vice president of the Association of Friendship between the Peoples of Ethiopia and Cuba, Yibra Mehari, who is also the architect who developed the design of the murals that remember our fallen compatriots.
