June 17, 2024. Cuban Ambassador to Canada Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz paid a courtesy call on Senator Peter Boehm, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Committee of the Senate of Canada.
During the meeting, several issues of bilateral interest were discussed, including the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2025 and the potential for strengthening inter-parliamentary relations.
The Cuban Ambassador gave an update on the economic and social situation of our country, which has suffered the impacts of the hostile policy of the US government, following the tightening of the blockade and the arbitrary inclusion of the island in the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
Likewise, the Cuban Ambassador thanked Canada for its historic support in the votes held every year at the United Nations General Assembly, where the vast majority of the international community calls for the end of the US blockade against Cuba.
