Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs speaks at the General Debate of the First Session of the Preparatory Committee for the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development

Addis Ababa, July 22, 2024.- The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Ambassador, Elio E. Rodríguez Perdomo, spoke at the General Debate of the First Session of the Preparatory Committee for the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development.

In his speech, the Cuban Vice Minister called for a critical rethinking of the current economic, financial and commercial order, towards a more just and equitable order.

He urged to promote cooperation in science, technology and innovation, taking into account the contributions of the G-77 Summit plus China held in Havana in September last year.

Deputy Minister Elio Rodríguez rejected the application of unilateral coercive measures that prevent countries from inserting themselves into international markets on equal terms.

He highlighted the devastating effects of the economic, commercial and financial blockade suffered by the Cuban people after 62 years and the financial consequences after the inclusion of Cuba in the spurious unilateral list of States that allegedly sponsor terrorism.
