STATEMENT BY CUBANS LIVING IN BARBADOS.

As every year and for more than three decades, on this date, the UN General Assembly has voted massively against the economic, financial and commercial blockade unjustly and unilaterally imposed by the United States of America on the people of Cuba since February 7, 1962.

In spite of the claims and the world solidarity shown, the iron blockade has not been lifted. The Trump Administration applied new and harsh measures, of which nothing has changed for the government in power, and as if that were not enough, to that is added the permanence of Cuba on the State Department's List of countries that allegedly sponsor Terrorism.

This means that for decades Cubans of several generations have suffered the consequences of this genocidal policy, which has hindered access to food, medicines, medical equipment, as well as basic goods for the economic and social development of our country. The economic damage caused by the blockade amounts to more than 1 trillion 499 billion 710 million dollars, figures that increase every minute and aggravate the difficult situation that the Cuban family is suffering today.

With the intention of suffocating the Homeland, children, young people and the elderly who are part of a dignified and hardworking people who are not a threat to any country and who are only defending their sovereignty are being deprived of enjoying basic necessities. The mobilization inside and outside Cuba to condemn and raise our voices to make known the reality and demand the end of the blockade must be unanimous and permanent.

Cubans residing in Barbados, we join in these days of Peace, Union and Love for the Homeland, the international call to demand, once again to the government of the United States, to exclude Cuba from the arbitrary List of alleged State Sponsors of Terrorism and to put an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba.We are certain that during the upcoming vote at the United Nations General Assembly the obsolete nature of these policies will once again be demonstrated. The world community will overwhelmingly and overwhelmingly condemn what is today a practice that is contrary to the very survival of a people and which, due to its extraterritorial nature, affects not only Cuba but also third countries, limiting their sovereign rights.Cubans, let's unite our voices to energetically tell Joe Biden, #TumbaElBloqueo.

Given in Bridgetown, Barbados, on the 29th day of the month of September 2024.
