Friends of solidarity and Cuban residents met with Consul General Susana Malmierca Benítez, in Montreal. The aim was to discuss the presentation of the report on United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution 78/7 entitled “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba” and the vote against the embargo which took place at the UNGA on October 30.
During the exchange, Consul general answered questions about the Cuban reality and the impact of the blockade on the various sectors. The interest of the participants in the main needs of those affected by Hurricane Oscar and the search for alternatives for sending donations was evident.
The opportunity contributed to condemn the unjust blockade imposed by the U.S. on Cuba and the inclusion of the island in the arbitrary list of countries sponsoring terrorism. Solidarity and Cuban community based in Montreal reaffirmed its constant support to the Cuban people and its institutions.
