A delegation of the Cuban Livestock Business Group (GEGAN), headed by the Group's president, Alain Rodríguez León, and composed of César Liván Franco Camacho, director of the Venegas de Yaguajay Livestock Enterprise in Santi Spiritus, and Daymey de la Caridad Cruz Torriente, from the Department of International Relations of the Cuban Ministry of Agriculture, paid an official visit to India.
As part of their agenda, they paid a working visit to the westernmost state of the country, Gujarat. During their stay, they visited the milk plant and the head office of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Amul). They also held meetings with the Vice Chancellor, Dr. NH Kelawala, and the board and faculty of Kamdhenu University; and the Directorate of Animal Husbandry and the Gujarat Livestock Development Board. All the exchanges explored the possibilities of technical and business cooperation in livestock genetics and breeding, especially the Gir breed, as part of Cuba's efforts to achieve food sovereignty.
Finally, they held a fruitful meeting with the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries, Livestock and Dairy of India, Varsha Joshi, where agreements were reached to promote scientific-technological cooperation and the exchange of experiences and business in the livestock sector.
