Cuba and South Sudan strengthen ties of friendship

Addis Ababa, February 26, 2025.- The Ambassador of Cuba to Ethiopia, Meylin Suárez Álvarez, paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of South Sudan in Addis Ababa, where she held a friendly meeting with the Second Chief of Mission, Ambassador Boutros Thok Deng. During the meeting, both sides exchanged on issues of bilateral and multilateral interest, highlighting the solid friendship between Cuba and South Sudan.

This visit marks Ambassador Suárez Álvarez's first official interaction with the South Sudanese representation, since her appointment as concurrent ambassador to that country, following her arrival in Ethiopia in January 2025.

During the meeting, the historic relationship of solidarity between Cuba and African nations, including South Sudan, was highlighted.

The Cuban ambassador highlighted South Sudan's constant support for Cuba in international forums, especially in the fight against the economic blockade imposed on the island. This support has been recognized and valued by the Cuban government, strengthening the ties of friendship between the two countries.

Other officials from both embassies also participated in the meeting, who contributed to the enrichment of the dialogue and the identification of new areas of mutual collaboration.

This meeting reinforces the shared will of Cuba and South Sudan to consolidate their diplomatic relations and cooperation in various fields, for the benefit of their peoples.
