Enrique Alemán MP presents the social impact of the Quisicuaba Project in Belfast

Belfast, 25 February 2025 - The Belfast community had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the Cuban reality and the social impact of the Cabildo Quisicuaba Project at an event held at Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich, a renowned centre for Irish language, arts and culture located in the heart of West Belfast.

The meeting, which attracted a large audience, featured speeches by Cuban MP Enrique Alemán Gutiérrez, director of the Cabildo Quisicuaba Project, and Cuban activist Valia Rodríguez of the Birmingham Cuba Solidarity Campaign. During their presentations, they discussed the current situation in Cuba as a result of more than six decades of the impact of the criminal blockade and the work carried out by the Quisicuaba initiative to tackle social problems such as homelessness and access to adequate food on the island.

Cabildo Quisicuaba is a community project with an outstanding track record in the inclusion and protection of vulnerable groups in Cuba, through programmes that combine the rescue of cultural values and social assistance. Its actions have been recognised inside and outside the country as a model of solidarity and commitment to the most disadvantaged sectors of society.

The event in Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich allowed to strengthen the bonds of solidarity between Belfast and Cuba, highlighting the importance of initiatives such as Quisicuaba in the struggle for a more just and inclusive society.
