Addis Ababa, March 13, 2025. - Ethiopia and Cuba today signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of technology and sports development, during a ceremony held at the Skylight Hotel in the Ethiopian capital.

The signing ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla, who has been on an official visit to Addis Ababa since yesterday.

The Memorandum of Understanding on technological cooperation was signed by the Minister of Innovation and Technology of Ethiopia, Belete Molla, and the Ambassador of Cuba to Ethiopia, Meylin Suárez Álvarez. For its part, the agreement on sports development was signed by the Minister of Culture and Sports of Ethiopia, Shewit Shanka, and the Cuban Foreign Minister.

These agreements mark an important step to expand the areas of collaboration between the two nations, reinforcing the historical ties that unite Cuba and Ethiopia.

It should be noted that this year both countries commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations, which have been characterized by solidarity and mutual support in various fields. These new agreements reaffirm the will to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation and open new opportunities for joint development in key sectors for the progress of both nations.
