Cuba present at the inauguration ceremony of the Diplomatic Academy at USEK
Under the distinguished patronage of the President of the Lebanese Republic, General Joseph Aoun, Ambassador Jorge Leon Cruz participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Diplomatic Academy of the University of the Holy Spirit of Kaslik (USEK), held in the auditorium halls of the high Lebanese centre of studies.
The opening remarks were delivered by Reverend Father Talal Hachem, President of USEK and the Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs of the Lebanese Republic, Youssef Rajji, who highlighted the importance of this ‘first foundation stone’ for future generations of diplomats and international affairs through USEK's studies of excellence and global engagement.
In addition, a panel of speakers, including the Ambassador of Italy, Fabrizio Marcelli and the First Secretary of the German Embassy, gave presentations and answered questions from the audience and guests at the event.
During the event, the Cuban Ambassador had the opportunity to have a brief exchange with the Lebanese Foreign Minister, to whom he reaffirmed the willingness to work for the strengthening of bilateral ties between Cuba and Lebanon.
USEK is located in the heart of Mount Lebanon. It is multilingual by tradition, with French as the predominant language of instruction. Thanks to a very dense network of national and international relations, it plays a key role in the training of highly qualified researchers and professionals.
