Nassau, May 31, 2025. Cuban health professionals, members of the Medical Brigade working in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, held a Scientific Conference under the theme "When science unites hearts, borders disappear and the health of the people flourishes." Twelve research papers of interest related to the work of the cooperators in their daily practice were presented at the event, four of them in poster format.
The following were highlighted and awarded: Determination of glycated hemoglobin in a clinical laboratory; Preliminary results of the ophthalmology program between Cuba and The Bahamas; Between clinical suspicion and ultrasound confirmation in a clinical case of ectopic pregnancy; and Challenges and solutions for the installation of medical equipment in the Bahamas. The poster section featured: Early Rehabilitation Intervention in Patients with Down Syndrome and Pelvic Radiographic Technique: Judet Oblique Projections.
The event confirmed the valuable contribution of the Cuban Medical Brigade, in coordination with local experts and other industry workers, to improving the health of the Bahamas population.
The event's panel considered the presented papers to be of great value, suggested compiling them for presentation to the country's relevant authorities, and, in some cases, recommending their evaluation for practical application.
The head of the Brigade, Dr. Danixia Novoa Sotomayor, recognized the quality of the papers, based on practical experiences in daily work and the application of a research and scientific methodology in their execution. She also congratulated the authors and speakers for their performance.
For his part, Cuban Ambassador Julio César González Marchante praised the organization and results of the event, encouraged further research, and highlighted the contribution of Cuban health personnel in The Bahamas, which upholds the principles of cooperation, solidarity, humanism, and Cuba's internationalism with countries in need. He also emphasized the commitment that distinguishes the mission's collaborators and urged them to continue demonstrating that Cuba saves lives.
