Ambassador meets with Trinidad and Tobago's Foreign Minister

 

Port of Spain, Monday, June 2. The Ambassador of Cuba, Gustavo Veliz, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, the Honorable Sean Sobers, who assumed office on May 3 following the victory of the United National Congress (UNC) in the general elections held on April 28, 2025.

In addition to Minister Sobers, who also serves as a Member of Parliament for Tabaquite, the meeting was attended by Mr. Randall Karim, Permanent Secretary, and Ms. Ayesha Wharton, Director of CARICOM and Caribbean Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting was cordial. Both parties reaffirmed their interest in continuing diplomatic relations. The Ambassador expressed Cuba’s gratitude to Trinidad and Tobago for its consistent calls for the lifting of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba.
