Harare, September 5, 2025—The Cuban Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Her Excellency Ms. Susellys Pérez Mesa, held a pleasant conversation today with the Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Desta Tiruneh.
Perez Mesa and Tiruneh discussed the Caribbean island's achievements in health and its role in international medical cooperation.
The WHO Representative praised the contributions of the Historic Leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, to Africa and praised Cuba's relations with the UN agency as positive.
At the same time, he updated on the health situation in Zimbabwe as well as the WHO's work priorities.
The Cuban Ambassador, meanwhile, addressed the impacts caused by the blockade imposed by the United States, especially in the health sector.
He also highlighted the work of the current 14th Medical Brigade volunteers in hospitals in Harare and Bulawayo.
