Addis Ababa, September 12, 2025.- As part of his official visit to Ethiopia, the President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) and Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Fernando González Llort, held a fraternal meeting with the leadership and representatives of the Associations of Friendship with Cuba in Ethiopia.
During the meeting, there was a broad exchange on the current situation in the Island, marked by the economic challenges derived from the tightening of the blockade imposed by the United States. The participants reaffirmed their solidarity and unconditional support for Cuba, highlighting the relevance of the legacy of brotherhood between both nations, forged in a shared history of struggle and cooperation.
The presidents and members of the associations present called for strengthening actions in support of Cuba, while also expressing their recognition of the Caribbean nation’s role in the training of generations of Ethiopian professionals and in the defense of social justice at the international level.
In this context, the President of ICAP announced the launch of the celebrations for the centenary of the birth of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, a historic figure of solidarity and internationalism.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere of fraternity and commitment, reaffirming the bonds of friendship between Cuba and Ethiopia and projecting new initiatives to strengthen the ties of cooperation and mutual support.
