Supplies and medical equipment donated to Trinidad hospital

A valuable donation of medical supplies and equipment was received at the Tomás Carrera Galiano Hospital in the municipality of Trinidad, thanks to the noble work of the Juan Gualberto Gómez Association of Cuban Residents in Toronto.

After the arrival of the container, the reception and classification of the 900 packages took place. They contained expendable materials, forceps, syringes, catheters, surgical drapes for the operating room, beds, wheelchairs, as well as an autoclave.

This precious cargo confirms the feelings of love for Cuba of the members of this organization, together with various solidarity groups and Together for Cuba, in the person of Jennifer Raymer, who actively participate in the preparation of these shipments to different regions of the country.

On behalf of the workers and the authorities present, Dr. Yaquelín Alfaro, director of the healthcare center, thanked these Cubans for their humanitarian gesture. Despite being thousands of kilometers from their homeland, they do not forget their roots or their love for the people.

She also expressed that these resources contribute to alleviating the situation of medical supplies in the health institution and to improving the quality of care for patients.

The preparation of the donation began several months ago, and this initiative finally came to a successful conclusion, said Belkis Castillo, specialist in International Relations, donations, and projects of the Directorate of Public Health in Sancti Spíritus.

"Gestures like this highlight international solidarity, which continues to be a pillar in the Cuban health system and a denunciation against the unjust economic blockade that the country has suffered for more than six decades. They also have a notable impact on the people, because all the resources will be made available to the people of Trinidad," she said.
