Vienna, September 16. The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mr. Rafael Mariano Grossi, received the Minister of Science, Technology, and Environment, Armando Rodríguez Batista, who heads the Cuban delegation to the 69th IAEA General Conference.
During the meeting, both parties discussed the excellent state of relations between the International Organization and Cuba, and exchanged views on the successful implementation of technical cooperation projects and the potential for strengthening them.
As part of the meeting's agenda, the Cuban delegation updated the senior international official on Cuba's progress in implementing the programs undertaken by the IAEA, despite the direct impact of the economic blockade and Cuba's inclusion on the illegal list of State Sponsors of Terrorism, which are the biggest obstacles to the country's development, including access to the benefits of nuclear energy.
The Director General reiterated the International Atomic Energy Agency's support for Cuba and its willingness to continue cooperating with the country on issues of mutual benefit.
