The Austrian Labor Party (PdA) reaffirms its class solidarity with Cuba in a second statement in response to US aggression

Vienna, February 5. The Austrian Labor Party (PdA) has issued a second strong statement in defense of Cuba, entitled “Solidarity means class struggle: defending the Cuban Revolution,” in response to the continued economic and political aggression of the US government. The statement delves into a class analysis of the confrontation, going beyond immediate condemnation to frame it within the historical struggle against imperialism.

The PdA characterizes U.S. actions—the oil blockade and aggressive rhetoric—as a desperate attempt by “imperialism in decline” to reverse the example of sovereignty and social justice that Cuba represents. It emphasizes that the real goal is to break the resistance of the Cuban people and their socialist system, using hunger and need as political weapons in an undeclared economic war.

In its call to action, the Austrian party defines solidarity with Cuba not as an abstract humanitarian gesture, but as an essential component of the international class struggle. It urges the strengthening of political mobilization in Austria and Europe to demand an immediate end to the blockade, Cuba's removal from the unilateral list of “state sponsors of terrorism,” and the strong condemnation of these measures by European institutions and the Austrian government.

With this statement, the PdA consolidates the unified position of the Austrian communist and solidarity movement, which has previously been expressed through various organizations and political forces. The central message is clear: to defend Cuba is to defend the right of all peoples to self-determination and to oppose imperialist coercion.
