Cuba and Malawi Explore Cooperation in the Health Sector

Lusaka, May 19, 2025 On the sidelines of the 78th World Health Assembly, taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, José Angel Portal Miranda, Cuba's Minister of Public Health, met with his Malawian counterpart, Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda, to explore opportunities for cooperation in the health sector.

According to a post on the Ministry's official Telegram channel, during the exchange, the two ministers addressed key issues such as the provision of health services and the training of professionals, with the aim of strengthening collaboration between the two nations for the benefit of well-being and the development of the health system.

Portal Miranda shared details of the meeting on his Twitter profile, reaffirming Cuba's commitment to international cooperation in health.

"Together with the Minister of Health of Malawi, Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda, we explored possibilities for cooperation in the health sector, specifically regarding the provision of services and the training of professionals."

The 78th World Health Assembly is being held from today until May 27, under the theme "A world united for health." (CubaMINREX-Embacuba-Zambia)
