New Delhi, June 12, 2026 - Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India - The Ambassador of Cuba to India, Juan Carlos Marsan Aguilera, led the Cuban delegation participating in the BRICS Agriculture Ministers' Meeting held on June 12 and 13 in the city of Indore, Madhya Pradesh state, India.
During his speech, the Cuban diplomat referred to the difficulties facing the island nation, in a context of extreme blockade measures by the US government and their negative impact on the agricultural sector, by depriving us of access to advanced technologies, international financing and essential strategic inputs.
However, he reiterated the Cuban government's commitment to continue promoting development policies in the sector to achieve the country's food sovereignty.
In the session entitled "Small farmers, women and youth: ensuring the future of food", the importance of cooperation between BRICS member and partner countries was highlighted in order to ensure prosperity, stability and well-being for all from the agricultural sector.
Ms. Guadalupe Frometa, Second in Command, in charge of economic and commercial matters, participated in the meeting.
