Renowned Canadian journalist, researcher, and author Arnold August presented his fourth book on Cuba and Latin America in Montreal, entitled "Fidel Castro: A Canadian's vision."
The event, organized by the Communist Party of Quebec to commemorate the Centenary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, was chaired by Cuba's Consul General in Montreal, Yamari Pérez Viera. It brought together representatives of solidarity organizations with Cuba, Cuban residents, and representatives from various sectors of society.
The distinguished political scientist recalled moments from Fidel's visit to Montreal in April 1959, highlighting the warm reception he received in the Canadian city—accounts that are detailed in the newly presented volume.
The Consul General encouraged those in attendance to read the book and underscored the enduring relevance of Fidel's thought, emphasizing that his profound humanism and unwavering confidence in victory continue to guide Cuba's path.
The event concluded with participants calling for continued denunciation of the harmful impact of the economic, financial, and commercial blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States.
