Association of Cubans Residing in Toronto calls for the immediate lifting of the U.S. blockade against Cuba

Toronto, October 2, 2026. The Association of Cubans Residing in Toronto “Juan Gualberto Gómez” once again condemned the economic war that the United States maintains against the Cuban people and denounced its effects on the population’s living conditions, particularly those of the most vulnerable sectors.

In a public statement, the organization said that in recent months there has been an escalation of measures aimed at worsening Cuba’s economic situation. In its view, these actions constitute a crime against humanity and represent collective punishment against the Cuban population.

The association also expressed its support for expressions of international solidarity with Cuba and joined the call for the “unconditional and immediate” lifting of the sanctions that make up the U.S. blockade.

It also demanded that Cuba be able to fully exercise its sovereignty and acquire the fuel necessary to meet the needs of the population.

“It is imperative that Cuba, in the exercise of its sovereignty, be able to acquire the fuel it needs to meet the population’s needs,” the organization stressed.

The Association of Cubans Residing in Toronto concluded its statement with a call to end the collective punishment of Cuban families.
