Presentation on the National Education System of Cuba made at the University of Indonesia

Presentación del Sistema de Educación en Cuba.

 

Jakarta, December 6, 2017. Invited by members of student organizations of the University of Indonesia, Michael González Castro, Third Secretary of the Cuban Embassy made the presentation "Cuba: Universal and free education a dream come true for Cubans", in the School of Social and Political Sciences of the center.

The presentation focused on three stages of the education system in Cuba, beginning with an analysis of the country's situation in this sector before the triumph of the Revolution in January 1959, the impact of the Revolution on education and the development of the National Literacy Campaign and the current state of the sector. Other topics discussed were Cuba's cooperation programs with other countries in education and the student and youth organizations in the country, among others.

Students from different faculties and organizations, as well as teachers from the center attended the presentation, showing interest in the academics and investigative results of the country as well as the impacts on Cuban education system, specifically the US blockade, among other aspects. The University of Indonesia, formally founded in 1946, is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the country, where more than 30,000 young people study every year.
