Monrovia, March 6, 2018-, In the morning hours of this Tuesday, Yordenis Despaigne Vera, Chargé d'Affaires of the Cuban Embassy in Liberia, made a courtesy visit to H.E. Gbehzohngar Milton Findley, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Liberia. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Liberian chancellery. On the Cuban side, the Second Secretary Carmen Maury Toledo also participated. Representing the Liberian counterpart were the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. B. Elias Shoniyin, the assistant minister for public affairs, Mr. Sylvester Pewe among other officials.
During the meeting, the senior African official thanked the Antillean diplomat for his presence, while highlighting the support given by the Major of the Antilles to the Liberian people during the scourge of the Ebola epidemic between 2014 and 2015. He emphasized the importance of expanding and deepen cooperation alternatives that may be of benefit to both countries.
For his part, the Cuban head of mission reiterated the commitment and willingness of the Cuban government to continue strengthening ties with African countries; diversify the areas of bilateral collaboration and contribute to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda in the continent. He also took the opportunity to convey to Mr. Milton Findley a congratulatory message for his recent appointment of his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla. He also delivered a message of gratitude to Liberia for its permanent support in the struggle of the Cuban people for the definitive lifting of the blockade imposed by the United States of America, particularly in multilateral forums such as the African Union and the United Nations General Assembly.
Born in 1960, originally from Grand Bassa County and graduate from Sociology, Mr. Gbehzohngar Milton Findley has developed an extensive career in politics as Senator, members of various Committees within the Senate and President Pro-tempore of the Senate.
