A book and an exhibition on Cuba´s current situation were presented in Vienna

“ÖKG”, the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association organized a space for providing information and promoting a debate on Cuba at the book store of the Trade Union Confederation of Austria (ÖGB by its German initials) where the representation of the Embassy of Cuba in Austria participated.

Information about various topics regarding Cuban current situation from the objective and solidary approach of the people who know and love the country was offered to the attendees along with the launch of the book entitled “Cuba en Cambios” (Cuba in a changing process), a compilation of 16 works of a group of Austrian and German authors.

Mrs. Marieta García Jordán, Chargé d´affairs a.i. of the Cuban Embassy, when addressing the audience expressed that the title of the book not only corresponds with the updating process of the Cuban economic model that has been developed in the last years but also with the profound changes which began in Cuba on 1 January 1959 at the Triumph of Revolution. Since then country´s transformations and evolution have been a permanent process. It was an appropriate occasion to also explain the characteristics and outcomes of the recent general elections which were held in Cuba.

Mr. Volker Hermsdorf, journalist and writer who was one of the compilers of the book; Mr. Michael Wögerer, the author of various included works and promoter of the production of the book; Ms. Jessica Müller, President of ÖKG, and Mr. Hermann Pernestorfer, General Secretary of this organization were among the panelists.

Extensive information on the production process of the book and its content was made available. The audience became familiar with the history of the Cuban people through interesting questions and comments. The attendees expressed their solidarity and support to the Revolution.

An exhibition showing the history of the Trade Union Confederation of Cuba (CTC, by its Spanish initials) was presented. This is a travelling exhibition which has visited several Austrian cities in the last year.
