A fruitful exchange of information and a debate on Cuba's current events took place in Vienna at the headquarters of "ÖKG", the Austria - Cuba Friendship Association on the occasion of the visit to this city of the Cuban Member of the Parliament Luis Morlote Rivas, President of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with the EU Member States, Vice-president of the Commission of Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Environment of the National Assembly of the People´s Power and First Vice-president of the Union of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC by its Spanish acronym).
The Ambassador of Cuba to Austria, His Excellency, Mr. Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios; the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba, Fidel Santana; the General Secretary of ÖKG, Hermann Pernestorfer; the President of "Cuba Va" Alaen Cisneros and a broad public composed of members of the ÖKG, Cubans residing in Austria, Latin American diplomats and the personnel of the Embassy of Cuba in Vienna attended the encounter.
Morlote Rivas made a presentation on the most current issues in Cuba, mainly the consultation process on the constitutional reform project which is taking place. He made a review of the national and international context in which the process is developed. At the time, he highlighted the fundamental changes that are introduced in the proposal and answered several questions the participants made in this regard. He emphasized the ratification of the socialist character of the Cuban system and the preservation of the social achievements of the Revolution as the universal rights to education, health, sports, and sciences among others.
The Cuban Member of the Parliament thanked the attendees for their participation, commitment and interest while keeping informed and understanding the Cuban reality to defend the Revolution.
Comrade Morlote Rivas is a member of PARLATINO and he is in Vienna participating in the 11 th Plenary Session of the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly. Simultaneously, he has an intense working program which includes meetings with leading figures of the European Parliament and Austria.
