The 16th World Congress of the International Society for Esophagus Diseases (ISDE) ends in Vienna

It culminates today in Vienna, Austria, the 16th World Congress of the International Society for Esophagus Diseases (ISDE).

Cuba has had as a representative the National Center for Minimally Access Surgery, national reference center for these procedures with more than 20 years of experience in these techniques as well as lines of research and training that make possible the results presented in this event by Dr. Rosalba Roque González, Deputy Director of this center, in relation to diseases of the esophagus.

The results obtained in relation to the treatment of esophageal achalasia and the use of expandable prostheses in diseases of the esophagus were those presented in this congress.

The University of Vienna, the venue of the congress, was dressed up in these days with the presentation of multiple works and experience of experts in relation to new techniques and diagnostic strategies for the treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the esophagus.

This important event culminates for the society of doctors, whose main objective was to exchange knowledge and experiences among specialists in the field. Cuba had a relevant participation and I call attention to the attendees not only for the quality and the techniques used in the surgical interventions of minimum access in our country, but also for being the only poor nation represented in this congress at the height of the great leading powers in these treatments worldwide; Japan, France, Italy, Spain, England among others

Despite the resurgence of the economic blockade imposed on Cuba, the island has trained specialists and state-of-the-art technology for medical treatments like this one. Once again, Cuba, its public health service and its self-sacrificing doctors shine globally.
