Friends of Cuba in Europe have gathered this weekend in Bohinj, Slovenia, on the occasion of the 18th Continental Solidarity Meeting with the Caribbean country. In the presence of a delegation from the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples, headed by its Vice-president Noemí Rabaza Fernández and the Ambassador of Cuba to Austria and Non-resident Ambassador to Slovenia, Juan Antonio Fernández, the event was inaugurated in a day of full commitment to the Cuban Revolution.
Before dozens of representatives of 24 countries and 33 solidarity organizations, the President of the Slovenian-Cuban Friendship Association and coordinator of the event, Igor Jurisic welcomed the participants and reiterated his willingness to work together to strengthen the solidarity movement with Cuba in this region.
On the other hand, Ambassador Juan Antonio Fernández when addressing the friends of Cuba offered an update on the main issues that concern Cuba's policy, society and economy; as well as the international context in which they are developed.
The Vice-president of the ICAP, Noemí Rabaza, thanked the attendees for their participation in the event and their permanent work of accompaniment and support for the Cuban Revolution. She outlined the priorities and main actions required of the friends of Cuba, at a time when the economic blockade of the United States is worsening and the disinformation and manipulation campaigns of the solidarity and humanitarian work of Cuba in other countries become more aggressive like the recent case of doctors in Brazil.
Until Sunday, 25 November, the delegates will debate and present proposals for actions for the next two years regarding the struggle against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba; the work towards the youth sector; the confrontation of subversion and disinformation campaigns against Cuba, mainly through social networks and other alternative media; among other topics.
