The delegates of the 18th European Solidarity Meeting with Cuba which was celebrated in Bohinj, Slovenia from 23 to 25 November concluded the crucial gathering with an event to pay homage to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz on the occasion of the second anniversary of his physical death. The Ambassador of Cuba to Austria and Non-resident Ambassador to Slovenia, Juan Antonio Fernández; the Vice-president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples, Noemí Rabaza Fernández, leaders and members of the solidarity organizations of 24 countries attended the event.
An exhibition of photographs of the Commander in Chief, songs, videos and heartfelt words were part of the cultural program of the event. The audience remembered the historical legacy of the Cuban and universal leader as well as his outstanding human values and principles.
Igor Jurisic, President of the Slovenian-Cuban Friendship Association when inaugurating the ceremony, call the attendees to observe a one minute of silence in the memory of the Commander in Chief and he reiterated the commitment of the Solidarity movement with Cuba to continue his example and support the Cuban Revolution.
ICAP Vice-president Noemí Rabaza highlighted Fidel's revolutionary and humanist trajectory of universal dimensions in her speech. She recalled that the creation of ICAP was the result of the actions of the Commander in Chief, with his project of making friends and offering solidarity to the peoples of the world, since the early 1960s.
The Cuban musician Lázaro Amed Hierrezuelo, representing his compatriots living in Slovenia, performed pieces from the traditional Cuban repertoire. The activity was a heartfelt tribute to the Commander in Chief and a commitment to remain faithful to his legacy. Gerhard Mack, Selma Schacht, Can Tohumcu, Michael Wögerer y a otros muchos amigos. En representación de la Embajada de Cuba en Viena la Consejera Marieta García y el Cónsul Roberto Vizcaíno agradecieron las muestras de solidaridad recibidas del pueblo de Austria en la sede de de la Misión cubana. Reafirmaron la presencia de la figura del Comandante en la Obra de la Revolución.
