Ljubljana, 30 January 2019. The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Slovenia, His Excellency, Mr. Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios held a meeting with the highest authorities of this country: the President of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Borut Pahor; the Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Marjan Šarec; the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Miro Cerar; and other representatives of the State and Government, in the margins of the New Year´s reception which took place at Brdo Congress Center of Ljubljana, the capital of the European country. The good state of the bilateral relations and the willingness to continue strengthening them were reaffirmed.
The Cuban Ambassador took the opportunity to thank the Slovenian President for the message of congratulations sent to the President of the Council of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution. Similarly, His Excellency expressed the gratitude of the Cuban Government for the Slovenian support to the Resolution of the UN General Assembly which condemns the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.
Cuba and Slovenia maintain the historical bonds of friendship and cooperation as well as diplomatic relations for more than 26 years.
