The Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Cuba denounces the escalation of pressure and actions of the Government of the United States to prepare a military adventure disguised as "humanitarian intervention" in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and calls on the international community to mobilize to prevent it from consume
Between 6 and 10 February 2019, flights of military transport aircraft have been made to the Rafael Miranda Airport of Puerto Rico, the San Isidro Air Base, in the Dominican Republic and to other strategically located Caribbean islands, probably without knowledge of the governments of those nations, which originated in American military installations from which units of Special Operations and Marine Corps operate, which are used for covert actions, even against leaders of other countries.
Political and press media, including North Americans, have revealed that extremist figures of that government, with a long history of actions and slander aimed at provoking or encouraging wars, such as National Security Adviser John Bolton, the Western Hemisphere Director of the Council of National Security, Mauricio Claver-Carone, with the participation of the Senator of Florida, Marco Rubio, designed, managed the financing and organized, directly and in detail, from Washington, the attempted coup in Venezuela through the illegal self-proclamation of a president.
They are themselves who, personally or through the State Department, are making brutal pressures against numerous governments to force their support for the arbitrary call to new Venezuelan presidential elections, while promoting the recognition of the usurper who barely has 97 thousand votes as a parliamentarian, in front of the more than 6 million Venezuelans who last May elected the Constitutional President Nicolás Maduro Moros.
After the resistance to the coup offered by the Bolivarian and Chavista people, demonstrated in the massive demonstrations of support to President Maduro and in the loyalty of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, the United States Government has intensified its international political and media campaign and intensifies unilateral coercive economic measures against Venezuela, among which can be cited the blockade in third-country banks of billions of dollars belonging to Venezuela and the theft of revenue from oil sales of that sister nation, which is causing serious Humanitarian damage and hard deprivation to his people.
Along with this cruel and unjustifiable dispossession, EE. UU It intends to make a humanitarian pretext to initiate a military aggression against Venezuela and has proposed to introduce into the territory of that sovereign nation, through intimidation, pressure and force, a supposed humanitarian aid, which is a thousand times less than the economic damages that it provokes the policy of encirclement, imposed from Washington.
The usurper and self-proclaimed "president" shamelessly declared his willingness to demand a US military intervention under the pretext of receiving such "humanitarian aid", and described the sovereign and dignified rejection of that maneuver as "a crime against humanity."
Top US officials remember every day, with arrogance and impudence, that, in relation to Venezuela, "all options are on the table, including the military."
In the process of fabricating pretexts, the United States government has resorted to deceit and slander by presenting a draft resolution in the United Nations Security Council that, cynically and hypocritically, expresses serious concern about "the humanitarian situation and of human rights ..., the recent attempts to block the provision of humanitarian aid, the existence of millions of migrants and refugees ..., the excessive use of force against peaceful demonstrators, the situation of breach of regional peace and security »in Venezuela and urges "to adopt the necessary measures".
It is clear that the United States paves the way to forcibly establishing "a humanitarian corridor" under "international protection", invoking the "obligation to protect" civilians and applying "all necessary measures".
It is essential to remember that similar behaviors and similar pretexts were adopted by the United States in the prelude to the wars it launched against Yugoslavia, Iraq and Libya, at the price of immense losses of human lives and enormous suffering.
The US government tries to eliminate the major obstacle represented by the Bolivarian Revolution and Chavista to the exercise of imperialist domination over "Our America" and the dispossession of the Venezuelan people from the world's first certified oil reserve and other large and strategic natural resources. .
The sad and painful history of military interventions by the United States can not be forgotten, on more than one occasion in Mexico, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, Honduras, and more recently in Grenada and Panama.
As the Army General Raúl Castro Ruz warned on July 14, 2017: "the aggression and the coup against Venezuela damage all of" Our America "and only benefit the interests of those who are determined to divide us to exercise their domination over our peoples , without bothering to generate conflicts of incalculable consequences in this region, such as those we are witnessing in different parts of the world ».
History will judge severely a new imperialist military intervention in the region and the complicity of those who irresponsibly accompany it.
The sovereignty and dignity of Latin America and the Caribbean and the peoples of the South are decided today in Venezuela. The survival of the norms of International Law and the Charter of the United Nations are also decided. It is defined if the legitimacy of a government emanates from the express and sovereign will of its people or from the recognition of foreign powers.
The Revolutionary Government calls for international mobilization in defense of peace in Venezuela and in the region, based on the principles of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace adopted with the signature of the Heads of State and Government of CELAC in 2014.
Expresses its welcome and support to the Montevideo Mechanism, an initiative of Mexico, Uruguay, the Commonwealth of the Caribbean (CARICOM) and Bolivia, which seeks to preserve peace in Venezuela based, as its recent Declaration says, on the principles of non-intervention in matters inmates, the legal equality of States and the peaceful settlement of disputes.
Welcomes the favorable reception of this initiative by President Maduro Moros and the international community and expresses concern at the categorical rejection by the United States Government of the dialogue initiatives promoted by several countries, including this one.
The Revolutionary Government reiterates its firm and unwavering solidarity with the Constitutional President Nicolás Maduro Moros, the Bolivarian and Chavez Revolution and the civic-military union of its people and calls on all peoples and governments of the world to defend peace and oppose united , above political or ideological differences, to stop a new imperialist military intervention in Latin America and the Caribbean that will damage the independence, sovereignty and interests of the peoples of the Rio Grande to Patagonia.
