Cuba and Austria hold the 8th Session of Political Consultations between Ministries of Foreign Affairs.

Havana, 19 September, 2019 - The Acting Director General for Bilateral Affairs, Armando Vergara Bueno and the Director General for Bilateral Affairs, Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union and Political Director of the Federal Ministry of Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria, Alexander Marschik, chaired the 8th Session of Political Consultations between the two countries, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba.

During the talks, both parties noted the positive state of relations between Cuba and Austria, confirmed the will to continue strengthening bilateral ties, expand economic-commercial relations and stressed the importance they attach to cooperation in different sectors, especially in the cultural and judicial areas. The parties also exchanged on issues on the regional and multilateral agenda.

In the context of the visit, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, received the Austrian delegation. During the meeting, which took place in a cordial and friendly atmosphere, both parties confirmed their willingness to continue contributing to the strengthening of bilateral relations in areas of common interest.

The distinguished visitor was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria in Cuba, H.E. Mr. Stefan Weidinger, and other officials from the Americas Directorate of the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria and the Embassy, respectively. On the Cuban side, the Director of Europe and Canada of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Alba Soto Pimentel, among other directors and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present.
