President of the Lebanese Parliament receives the Ambassador of Cuba

Beirut, February 20, 2020. The President of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, received the Ambassador of Cuba, Alexander Pellicer Moraga, at the Palace of Ain El Tineh.

During the fraternal meeting, both parties recognized the good state of bilateral relations and expressed the will to continue strengthening the links between the respective Parliaments, while highlighting the collaboration they have in different forums and multilateral events.

Given the interest shown by Berri, the Ambassador made an explanation about the economic situation in Cuba and the damages caused by the blockade imposed by the US, which today constitutes the main obstacle to the economic and social development of the island. Pellicer Moraga said that after President Trump's arrival at the White House had intensified economic and financial sanctions against Cuba and cited as an example the unjust sanctions imposed on shipping companies and vessels that transport oil and gas to Cuba.

For his part, the President of Parliament praised Cuba's resistance and the outstanding role it plays in the international arena, as well as its unconditional support for the Arab and Palestinian cause.
