Cuban Embassy in Liberia congratulates the Cuban Women Federation on its day.

Monrovia, August 23, 2020 - Under the slogan "Making Revolution on the Move" the Cuban Women Federation (FMC) celebrates the 60th anniversary of its founding.

Once again highlighting its role in the Revolution and also supporting all the impact tasks aimed at advancing and consolidating the country in the different branches and sectors, the FMC arrives today at a new anniversary of the organization that brings them together and watches over their rights.

On August 23, 1960, the day of its creation, the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, highlighted the role of women in the process of January 1959 and said that it was the Federation's task to organize Cuban women, prepare them and help them in all areas.

The FMC is a mass organization founded on August 23, 1960 by the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and the heroine Vilma Espín. On its 60th anniversary, the FMC seeks to further empower women.

The assurance of a set of measures in favor of women and their empowerment in today's society is the main motto of the Cuban Women Federation.

In Cuba, there are 4.3 million women members of the Federation; 44% of them are young people, and every year approximately 50,000 girls join the organization on a voluntary basis.
