The Cuban Embassy commemorates the 44th Anniversary of the crime in Barbados.

Port of Spain, October 6th 2020. With an emotional and simple activity, the group of the Cuban Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago recalled this October 6, one more anniversary of this terrorist action that caused so much pain and still causes the Cuban people. Adjusted to the Covid19 protocols, it was not possible to carry out this activity at the Piarco airport where it is traditionally carried out. The roll call of the 57 Cubans who died that day served as a preamble for Counselor Patricia Pita Calderón to begin the historical review of what happened on October 6, 1976. He stressed that the 24 members of the youth fencing team of Cuba (who were part of the passengers), boarded the Cuban aircraft at the Trinidad and Tobago airport bound for Jamaica, after having arrived at dawn that very day on this airport from Venezuela, after its participation in the Central American and Caribbean games. The words pronounced by the Commander-in-Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz at the funeral of the victims of the crime in Barbados on October 15, 1976, served as the culmination to demand once again the government of the United States, for the repeated realization of terrorist and genocidal acts against the Cuban people.
