Lebanon shows interest in Cuba's anti-Covid-19 vaccines

Beirut, April 15, 2021. Lebanon's interim Minister of Health, Hamad Hassan, today showed interest in clinical trials of Cuba's anti-Covid-19 vaccines during a meeting with the Cuban ambassador, Alexander Pellicer.

Hassan pointed out that Lebanon is accredited by the World Health Organization for this type of experiments which would improve the country's access to more antidotes, after guaranteeing efficacy and safety.

At the time, the Cuban diplomat pointed out that it is about the possibility of Lebanese participation in the third phase of clinical trials of the Cuban Soberana 02 and Abdala vaccines or any of the other candidates that are in other trial phases.

After confirming the interest of the authorities of the country of the cedars, the head of the Cuban mission indicated that they will start contacts to see the feasibility of including Lebanon in Phase III clinical trials of some of the Cuban vaccine candidates.

So far, he explained, the experiments of the drug created in the Caribbean nation have included 150,000 people in Cuba, as many others in Iran and Venezuela, with no records of serious side effects.

The Cuban ambassador pointed out that in case there is no agreement on the clinical trials in Lebanon, he will send the dossier of each vaccine to the Ministry of Health of this country for study and possibilities of using them in case of emergency. (Embacuba Líbano/Prensa Latina)
