Lebanese Foreign Minister reaffirms support for Cuba in its struggle against the blockade

Beirut, April 20, 2021. Lebanese Foreign Minister Charbel Wehbe received at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the Ambassador of Cuba, Alexander Pellicer Moraga, with whom he exchanged on issues of bilateral interest.

During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat handed over a letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, to his Lebanese counterpart, highlighting the damage caused to Cuba by the illegal blockade imposed by the U.S. for almost 60 years and its intensification in the midst of the pandemic caused by Covid-19.

In the letter, Rodriguez Parrilla expressed his gratitude for Lebanon's historic position of support for Cuba in the struggle against the blockade and once again requested the Lebanese government's support for the resolution that is presented every year at the UN General Assembly on that issue.

For his part, the head of the diplomacy of the country of the cedars reaffirmed that Lebanon will continue to unconditionally support Cuba in its struggle for the lifting of the blockade and all the sanctions imposed against the island. "Cuba will always be able to count on our support". The Foreign Minister said.

Wehbe took the opportunity to send warm congratulations to the Cuban people on the successful holding of the 8th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba and the election of Miguel Díaz-Canel as its First Secretary.  (Embacuba Líbano)
