Beirut, July 12, 2021. The director of the pan-Arab channel Al Mayadeen, Ghassan Ben Jeddou, today showed his solidarity with Cuba during a visit to the diplomatic mission of the Caribbean nation in this capital.
In a conversation with the head of the Cuban mission in Lebanon, Alexander Pellicer, witnessed by Prensa Latina, Ben Jeddou said: 'we are with Cuba now and forever'.
When referring to recent incidents in the Antillean country, the journalist of Tunisian origin appreciated that they derived from the coincidence of the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic and shortages caused by the siege imposed by the United States.
It is a scheme applied in other nations, including Lebanon, of creating chaos, confusion and unrest among citizens, and to which the United States resorts to favor its interests, he said.
But in any case, he added, Cuba can count on its friends, among them Al Mayadeen, because its Revolution never abandoned just causes, neither the Arab ones, he stressed, nor those of the people of Palestine.
At the time, the Cuban ambassador described as a macabre plan the attempt to take advantage of the lack of food and medicines, access to which is hindered by the U.S. blockade.
Pellicer explained that the current scenario resembles that of the fall of the socialist camp in the last decades of the 20th century, when Washington also resorted to subversive methods to destroy the Cuban Revolution.
Perhaps, he pointed out, this is the reason why Joe Biden's administration is not fulfilling its pre-election promises to improve relations with Cuba.
He does not lift a finger waiting for a disaster, he said, but his ignorance of a country whose population will defend to the last consequences the values learned in 62 years is evident. (Embacuba Líbano/Prensa Latina)
