Cuba participates in workshop with CARICOM to strengthen resilience and data systems

Georgetown, December 15. The Secretariat of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), and the United Nations Statistics Division and Sustainable Development Goals Division (UNDESA) are holding a regional workshop on the implementation of the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in the Caribbean, with the aim of strengthening resilience and data systems.

STATEMENT FROM THE CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY (CARICOM) ON THE FIFTY-THIRD ANNIVERSARY OF CARICOM-CUBA RELATIONS 

December 8, 2025 (CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) – The eighth of December 2025 marks the Fifty-Third Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, the four then independent Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Member States, and Cuba. That bold act of 8 December 1972 has evolved steadily into a fruitful and mutually beneficial friendship between all CARICOM Member States and Cuba.

Cuba Caricom 53rd anniversary

Guyana, Georgetwon, December 8, 2025. Today, December 8, 2025, Cuba and CARICOM celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the independent states of CARICOM and Cuba, and the 23rd anniversary of Cuba-CARICOM Day.Four small Caribbean nations, in a courageous political decision, chose to establish diplomatic relations with Cuba.

Remembrance Day in Guyana.

Guyana, Georgetown, November 9, 2025. The Ambassador of Cuba to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Jorge Francisco Soberón Luis, participated alongside representatives of the accredited diplomatic corps in the country and government authorities in the ceremony honoring those fallen in the First and Second World Wars. During the ceremony, the Cuban Ambassador laid a wreath.
