Kingston, Jamaica, 23 February 2022. The Ambassador of Cuba in Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, visited Janice Miller, Under-Secretary for Bilateral, Regional and Hemispheric Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, on Monday at the Ministry's headquarters.
During the meeting, both diplomats highlighted the historical bonds of friendship and cooperation between Cuba and Jamaica, islands that this year celebrate half a century of diplomatic relations. The Ambassador praised Jamaica's continued support for the struggle to lift the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US government on Cuba. On her part, the Jamaican officer thanked the significant help that Cuba has given her country to fight Covid-19, and acknowledged Cuba's production of Covid-19 vaccines.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere of respect and mutual understanding, in tune with the positive relations between both Caribbean nations.
