New Delhi, February 24, 2022. The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba resident in India, Alejandro Simancas Marin, presented his Credentials to the President of Nepal, Her Excellency Bidhya Devi Bhandari, on Wednesday, February 23.
During the solemn ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Kathmandu, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari highlighted the traditional friendly relations between the two countries and conveyed the will to continue developing bilateral ties. She recalled with gratitude the assistance provided by Cuba to Nepal by providing a medical brigade during the earthquake tragedy in 2005. He also recognized the high level of social development achieved by Cuba despite the difficulties imposed by the blockade and the achievement of having been able to develop vaccines against COVID-19.
For his part, the Cuban Ambassador conveyed to the Nepalese dignitary the message of friendship of the Cuban government and people, especially the President of the Republic. He reaffirmed the decision to continue strengthening bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest and recalled that next March 25 both countries will celebrate the 47th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations. He expressed gratitude for the gestures of solidarity of the government and people of Nepal in favor of Cuba's demand for an end to the blockade.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Nepalese government, among them the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defense and Health. Previously, the Ambassador had handed over the style copies to the Chief of Protocol of the Nepalese Foreign Ministry, Durga Bahadur.
