III Cuba/New Zealand Annual Dialogue.

Wellington, May 30. Sponsored by the Caribbean Council, the third edition of the Cuba/New Zealand Annual Dialogue took place at the Cuban Embassy.

Academics, businessmen, officials, and students participated in the event and exchanged with the Cuban Ambassador about Cuba, relations with New Zealand, and the effects of the United States blockade on the lives of Cubans and the island's foreign relations.

Business and investment opportunities in Cuba were also mentioned.

New works are inaugurated on Cuba Street in Palmerston North.

Palmerston North, May 11. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés and Consul Dalila Vázquez visited this city at the invitation of Mayor Grant Smith, to inaugurate remodeling works on Cuba Street.

Authorities, the city press, construction contractors, local businessmen, and residents participated in the public act.

The Ambassador spoke to the attendees and attended a dinner with the mayor and other authorities, on which occasion they discussed the preparations for the Latin American and Spanish Film Festival (LASFF), which Cuba is responsible for organizing in that city in September.

Cuban ambassador visited Hastings.

Hastings, September 21. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés visited this city on September 20 and 21.

He had a productive meeting with Mayor H.W Sandra Hazlehurst, who informed him about cultural plans, environmental education, and housing construction, among other aspects. They discussed different ideas to develop the relationship.

Together with her, and other members of her team, he toured various places of interest in the city.

Cuban Ambassador attends a celebration for the Maori New Year.

Wellington, June 24. At the invitation of the Right Honorable Dame Cindy Kiro, Governor-General of New Zealand, and Dr. Richard Davis, Ambassador Edgardo Valdés and his wife Dalila Vázquez attended a dinner at Government House to celebrate Matariki, the Maori New Year, which for the first time is an official holiday.

During the event, they talked extensively about Cuba and its health system, about which Dr. Davies has extensive knowledge.

The Ambassador expressed that the Governor-General and her husband will be very welcome in Cuba, a country that they both wish to visit.

Cuban Ambassador meets with Co-President of the Parliamentary Friendship Group.

New Plymouth. November 22. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés met with Angela Roberts, Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Latin America and the Caribbean of New Zealand, with whom he spoke extensively about Cuba, its foreign policy and the prospects for exchange between both Parliaments.

Roberts expressed interest in visiting Cuba in the future.

Cuban Ambassador visits agricultural areas of New Zealand.

Greytown, April 16. During April 15 and 16, Ambassador Edgardo Valdés visited the agricultural region of Wairarapa, near the capital, as part of a program coordinated by the Foreign Ministry. Accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Primary Industries, Fonterra and by Mel Poulton, farmer and Special Envoy for Agricultural Trade, he was able to visit several farms and exchange with their owners, specialized in certified seed production, sheep and cow breeding, meat export, milk production, forestry and vineyards.
