Palmerston North, May 11. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés and Consul Dalila Vázquez visited this city at the invitation of Mayor Grant Smith, to inaugurate remodeling works on Cuba Street.
Authorities, the city press, construction contractors, local businessmen, and residents participated in the public act.
The Ambassador spoke to the attendees and attended a dinner with the mayor and other authorities, on which occasion they discussed the preparations for the Latin American and Spanish Film Festival (LASFF), which Cuba is responsible for organizing in that city in September.
Mayor Smith pledged his customary support.
Cuban officials also met with Professor Francisco Bonilla, from Massey University, who acts as the local coordinator for the organization of LASFF in that city.
As is traditional, LASFF will bring a number of films from our region to around 10 cities in New Zealand.
