Ambassador of Cuba exchanges with Blade Nzimande, Minister of Transport and Secretary General of the Communist Party of South Africa

Pretoria, January 22 2019.- The Ambassador of Cuba in South Africa, Rodolfo Benítez Verson, held a meeting at the Embassy of the Island in Pretoria with Comrade Bonginkosi Emmanuel "Blade" Nzimande, Minister of Transport and Secretary General of the Communist Party of South Africa.

During the meeting the parties exchanged on various issues of the bilateral and international agenda, and preparations were completed for the work visit to Cuba of Comrade Nzimande at the head of a South African delegation, from January 20-23.

Pretoria, January 18,2019.- On January 16, 2019, the US State Department announced the decision to suspend, only for 45 days, the implementation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, “in order to conduct a careful review …in light of the national interests of the United States and the efforts  to expedite a transition to democracy in Cuba, and include factors such as  the Cuba’s regime’s brutal oppression of human rights and fundamental freedoms and its indefensible support for increasingly authoritarian and corrupt regimes in Venezuela and Nicaragua.”
