Cuba has human resources to cope with Covid-19 and offer help

Havana, Mar 30 (Prensa Latina) Cuba has enough human resources to cope with Covid-19, as well as to provide assistance abroad, Public Health (MINSAP) Minister Jose Angel Portal said.

Cuba has 95,000 physicians, 84,000 nurses and a ratio of nine doctors per every 1,000 people; in summary, that means enough availability to help whoever needs it as well, the minister told a press conference on Saturday.

Cuba offers its hand to the Caribbean

Cuba offers its hand to the Caribbean

Over the last week, brigades from the Henry Reeve International Medical Contingent have departed every day

Several Caribbean island countries have expressed the gratitude of their peoples with a warm welcome as Cuban doctors arrive, offering a helping hand with invaluable medical support to the battle against Covid-19, as a gesture of solidarity.

It was already late into the night in the Lesser Antilles when an airplane landed on the main island of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to deliver its precious human cargo, Cuban health professionals arriving to help.

Lula: The Cuban people show the world an example of solidarity

I request, dear compañero Díaz-Canel, that you convey to Cuba’s men and women - especially the scientists and health professionals who are waging this difficult battle for life around the world - the recognition, admiration and gratitude of the Brazilian people. We will stand together, always, onward to victory. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva

Dear Miguel Díaz-Canel,

President of the Republic of Cuba

I am writing to tell you of the emotion I felt when I saw the image of Cuban doctors arriving in Italy to help the victims of the coronavirus pandemic in that country.

Once again the government and people of Cuba are giving the world an example of solidarity, overcoming all barriers, be they economic, geographical or political in nature.
